The “read_csv2” Function in R
Package: readr
Purpose: To read a CSV file with a comma as the decimal point into a data frame.
General Class: Data Import
Required Argument(s):
file: The path to the CSV file to read.
Notable Optional Arguments:
col_names: Logical. If TRUE, the first row of the CSV file is treated as the column names. The default is TRUE.
skip: Integer. Number of lines to skip before reading data. The default is 0.
na: Character vector specifying additional strings to interpret as missing values. The default is c(““,”NA”).
locale: The locale controls defaults that vary from place to place. The default locale is US-centric. Use locale() to create your own locale.
comment: A string used to identify comments. Any text after the comment characters will be silently ignored. The default is ““.
trim_ws: Logical. If TRUE, whitespace is trimmed from the beginning and end of each line. The default is TRUE.
Example (with Explanation):
# Load necessary packages
library(readr)
# Read a CSV file with comma as decimal point into a data frame
data <- read_csv2("data.csv")
# Display the structure of the data frame
str(data)In this example, the read_csv2 function from the readr package is used to read a CSV file named “data.csv” with a comma as the decimal point into a data frame called data. By default, the function assumes that the first row of the CSV file contains column names. The structure of the resulting data frame is then displayed using the str function. This function is commonly used to import CSV data with comma decimal points into R for analysis.
